The Hawk and Owl Trust is creating two part-time jobs at Fylingdales Moor Conservation Area in North Yorkshire: a moorland outreach and education officer, and an assistant wildlife ranger. The appointments will be for an initial five years. Applications close on 26 February 2010. The Trust manages Fylingdales Moor exclusively for the conservation of wildlife and archaeology.
Moorland Outreach & Education Officer
(part-time 3 days per week)
Salary: £11,800 p.a
The Outreach and Education Officer will work under the supervision of the Conservation Manager, and will liaise closely with other employees on the moor and with other organisations. Main duties include engaging the local community and schools with Fylingdales Moor through a range of activities and events.
Applicants should have relevant experience and qualifications in education and/or outreach work, have a clean driving licence, and must be committed to the protection and conservation of wildlife.
Assistant Wildlife Ranger
(part-time 3 days per week)
Salary: £8,500 p.a
The Assistant Wildlife Ranger will work under the supervision of the Senior Wildlife Ranger, and will report to the Conservation Manager. Main duties include: Working with the Senior Wildlife Ranger to carry out moorland management (including heather burning and pest control) as set out in the HLS agreement for Fylingdales Moor.
Applicants should have at least 2 years experience of moorland management or equivalent, have a clean driving licence, and be committed to the protection and conservation of all wildlife.
