Activity sessions
Group activities at Sculthorpe Moor Reserve
Activities can be booked for groups of at least 10 people. The cost is £2.50 per person. They must be booked in advance.
Activities
- can be arraged during the day, evening and weekend, subject to availability of staff and volunteers
- mostly take place on or alongside a boardwalk which is accessible to wheelchairs and buggies
- last one hour
Sessions can be tailored to individual requirements (contact the reserve to discuss ideas) or chose from one of these:
- Earthwalks: an interactive journey around the reserve including activities designed to encourage a closer relationship with the natural world
- Pond dipping: a well known favourite exploring the watery world of many small inhabitants of the moor
- Minibeast safari: a chance to investigate the small creatures found in different habitats on the moor
- Owl pellet dissection: find out what the wild barn owls have been catching on their nocturnal hunting trips by dissecting the pellet of bones and fur they cast up
- Shelter building: an opportunity to test survival skills by creating a shelter from natural materials
- Wildlife detectives: a chance to learn how to interpret the clues wild creatures leave behind to learn more about the wildlife on the moor
- Story telling: our butterfly glade amphitheatre can be booked for storytelling, circle-time or other special occassions
- Art and craft: a wide range of art and craft activities can be offered to follow on from a walk or another activity session or to tie in with a theme such as owls
- Sensory activities: designed to encourage exploration of the reserve using all the senses.
