2010 marsh harrier male drops in
Rare moment when the male drops in with an offering of reed
This is probably another world exclusive for Sculthorpe Moor Community Nature Reserve. With no evidence of the male marsh harrier ever visiting the nest while filming in 2008 and 2009, we didnt expect to see the male drop into the nest once the chicks started to hatch. Male marsh harriers are likely to have more than one partner so a reliable male bird will be working very hard up to the end of the summer keeping his broods supplied with fresh prey. The male visits are very short so this clip is one that you may want to play over again so you can have a good look at this magnificent bird of prey Until the young have fledged, around late July, you can see live footage from our webcam.
