Focus on Sculthorpe Moor
Live webcam view at Sculthorpe Moor reserve
Welcome to the Sculthorpe Moor Community Nature Reserve webcam, currently showing one of the feeding tables outside the Whitely hide. Birds that can be seen regularly are: bullfinch, greenfinch, chaffinch, most of the tit family including the occaisional willow tit, great spotted woodpecker and jay. If you are an early riser you may even see a barn owl huntingfrom it.
This camera was previously on a marsh harrier nest. All six young have fledged now and for a few weeks more can be seen flying on the reserve. On 15 June the nestlings had light green BTO-approved tags fixed to their wings to aid identification when they fly. This was the start of a five-year study of Wensum Valley marsh harriers to investigate where they overwinter and whether they return to the sites where they were hatched. To spot these young individuals now they have fledged, look out for marsh harriers bearing wing tags AA, AB, AC, AD, AF and AH. A further two birds from a second nest at Sculthorpe Moor have also been tagged AN and AP. The tags do not impede the birds' movements.
